The Sound of Music

After spending her first night in the cabin, Azalea woke up ready to look for a job. Her clothes are kind of worn out, and she doesn’t smell too great (blame that on the cabin) . Despite these things, Azalea plucked up her courage and began the long walk to downtown Riverview. Why didn’t she bring her bike when she ran away? Oh well.

Knowing that minimum wage jobs ask minimum questions, she decided to try the local grocery store. Maybe she’ll even get a discount on food, that would be a big help. After spending about an hour in an interview with the store’s unpleasant owner, Azalea finds herself accepted as the store’s product quality adviser (ie: stock girl). She now has to work every school day from 4-6pm. Hopefully she’ll be able to keep up with her homework. There’s nothing she can do really; having enough cash for food is an important concern.

Since she had nowhere to go and her little acquired house smells like the bad side of a skunk, Azalea found herself wandering around this quaint downtown and admiring the store owners’ flowers. It wasn’t long before her wandering was noticed and she was approached by a stranger.

This stranger was tall with his long, reddish hair swept back into a pony-tail. He was dressed all in black, and had an air of quiet confidence about him. Azalea was struck when he began polite conversation with her. He asked her if she was new in town and where she was staying. Azalea, giving a few details as possible, replied that she was new in town and that she had a small place to stay just down the road. After chatting for a while longer, Azalea wished to make a friend of this stranger, Jon Lessen.

She began to share small things about herself . She talked about her new home. She complained about meat. Then she brought up music. Jon, on hearing her mention music, began to walk away. Azalea was afraid that she must have offended him, and she sighed with disappointment. Just then she heard the sound of music coming from just around the corner. To appease her curiosity, she walked over and saw that Jon had taken out his guitar and had begun to play, for her.

Azalea was captivated. She immediately wished that she could learn to play the guitar herself. Maybe Jon would teach her! Okay, maybe she was getting a bit ahead of herself. None-the-less she found herself captivated. She was determined that she and Jon should become quick friends. The park soon became the site of an impromptu concert. There must have been 15 or 20 other sims watching Jon play, but Azalea, prone to romantic notions, just knew that he played just for her.

Having such a blast, Azalea’s mind was cleared of her worries. She wondered about the these townies, and she took some time to observe the people around her. Before long, one thing was clear to her: people in Riverview are a bit odd. Shrugging away that thought, Azalea realized that she wasn’t actually without worries. She was getting quite hungry and she had only one simoleon in her pocket. She was going to have to leave the concert and head home to see what the ancient ice box had to offer. Grudgingly, she left. She wondered if Jon even noticed that she was leaving… After making the long walk back home, Azalea rooted-through the rusty ice box and found some old cans of soup. Figuring that canned soup can never go bad, Azalea had found dinner. She quickly decided that the outhouse actually smelled better than the cabin, and she headed there to dine in style. Not long after dinner, she found that her day had exhausted her. She flopped herself down on the creaky cot for an uneasy night of sleep.

New Beginnings

Azalea has known hard times in her life, and it doesn’t seem as if it’s going to get any easier. The home she grew up in was a home of hostility and very little affection. And though it pained her to leave her siblings (to whom she had been like a second mother), she knew she had to get away. Only a few days after her sweet sixteenth, she packed her meager belongings and ran away from home. Although Azalea now finds herself in a new town with no friends and no money, she is ready to make the best of her situation. Azalea is not one to be timid about hard circumstances.

After spending a few nights sleeping on a bench in the park, she began to wander the town and look for better lodgings. She came across an abandoned cabin, and has claimed it as her own. It may be far from the luxuries of home, but to Azalea it’s her little piece of peace.
